DESCRIPTION:Join the Round Rock Public Library for a refreshing new Well! Well! Well! series. This spring\, we’re diving into the magical power of breath work. Join us on Sunday\, May 4th\, May 11th\, and May 18th from 4:00 to 5:15 p.m. in Meeting Rooms A & B. \nBreathing is not just a basic human function—it is the function of life itself. It sustains us\, connects our body and mind\, and is a powerful tool for improving our health and well-being. Although we breathe unconsciously\, many of us do not breathe optimally\, which can lead to various physical and mental health issues. Poor oxygenation of the body can lead to fatigue\, muscle tension\, and weakened immunity. Shallow breathing can increase stress\, anxiety\, and difficulty concentrating. Irregular breathing patterns can exacerbate feelings of anger\, frustration\, or sadness. Athletes\, singers\, and public speakers may underperform due to inadequate breath control. At each Breathing Lab session\, you will better understand your own breathing patterns\, learn what normal breathing looks like\, and acquire practical breathing skills to incorporate into your daily life. \n3 Sessions \n\nMay 4th\, 2025 Session One: Breath Observation — Understand your breathing pattern and prepare your body for better breath\nMay 11th\, 2025 Session Two: Breath Revitalization — Improve breathing depth with activation of diaphragm and mind calming\nMay 18th\, 2025 Session Three: Breath Utilization — Synchronize breathing into movement and life\n\nNo library card is required to attend—just bring yourself\, your breath\, and a sense of curiosity!

Bring a yoga mat and/or a large towel or two\, plus some water in case you get thirsty. \nWe specialize in teaching yoga that is accessible\, comfortable\, and beneficial for people with all kinds of bodies. Chairs are available at the Plaza and can be used during the yoga practice for sitting on or for holding onto for better balance. \nRegular yoga practice can help you improve your strength and flexibility\, and reduce your aches and pains. Gen. Michael “Mac” McCurry is responsible for ensuring the Army Futures Command operates effectively by facilitating prompt and informed decision-making\, resolving complex problems\, integrating critical information\, and maintaining clear communication across all levels. His role is pivotal in streamlining processes and fostering a collaborative environment to achieve the Command’s objectives. \nMcCurry is a native of Meridian\, Idaho and commissioned as a second lieutenant of Infantry in 1988. Following graduation\, he became an Army aviation officer and a Scout helicopter pilot. He has served in command and leadership positions in Iraq\, Kuwait\, Turkey\, Germany\, South Korea and the United States\, most recently serving as the commanding general of the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence\, Fort Novosel\, Ala.\nMaj. Gen. McCurry holds advanced degrees in National Strategic Policy from the U.S. Naval War College\, and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He is also a graduate of the National Security Policy Program and the Naval Operational Planner’s Course and is a certified Joint and Maritime Operational Planner.

DESCRIPTION:According to the 2022 Federal Bureau of Investigation Internet Crime Report\, Americans aged 60 and older lost a combined $3.1 billion to fraud in 2022. In this 90-minute workshop at the Round Rock Public Library\, Meeting Room A&B\, First Floor\, Silver Safe and Secure will explain how seniors can recognize\, avoid\, and report virtual scams. Topics covered include: \n•    How scammers target older adults (common scams: phishing\, tech support\, romance\, IRS scams\, etc.)\n•    Red flags to spot scams in emails\, phone calls\, and texts\n•    How to verify if something is legitimate\n•    Safe browsing habits and recognizing fake websites\n•    Where and how to report scams \nPlease click here to register. Registration is requested\, but not required. Registering will help us provide the right number of workbooks. \nAbout the presenter \nSilver Safe and Secure\, a Round Rock-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to teaching the elderly about digital literacy and how to avoid online scams\, was founded in 2023 by Ryosuke and Grace Mineta\, who have a combined 20+ years of experience in cybersecurity. Silver Safe and Secure is dedicated to safeguarding our community\, particularly the elderly\, from the financial and emotional devastation caused by online scams.
