Connecting Round Rock: Advocates for Veterans – A Place At Home/North Austin
A Place At Home – North Austin
Describe the part of your mission focusing on veterans and the work.
Owner, Stacey Eisenberg: At A Place At Home – North Austin, our mission is to be passionate professionals providing the compassionate care you need, where and when you need us. We educate and advocate on behalf of our veterans to receive the benefits they are not even aware they are eligible for. Only about 5% of senior veterans realize they’re eligible for a range of in-home care services provided by the VA Community Care Networks. The services and benefits include:
- Homemaker and home health aide services
- Respite services for families and loved ones
- Skilled home healthcare
- Home-based primary care
- VA Aid & Attendance pension
What is your favorite part about the work your organization does?
My favorite part is being able to put a smile on a senior’s face daily and knowing they are being cared for the way they deserve. We also enjoy finding special extras we can get the community to participate in, showing we care about our veterans. For example, we had multiple senior communities sign Valentine’s Day cards so that we could hand deliver over 130 cards to veterans at the Texas State Veteran’s Home in Temple.
What is one challenge your organization faces?
The time to reach more veterans and spend the time with them to complete all the paperwork.
How does your organization/business celebrate the veterans you serve on Independence Day?
Shouting them out on social media and bringing them small gifts.
How can Round Rock (and the surrounding areas) support your organization?
If anyone knows a senior or disabled veteran and they aren’t getting the support they need, please reach out to us.
Anything else you would like us to know?
Owner Stacey Eisenberg is the daughter of two veterans. To learn more about Stacey and her husband and co-owner, Bryan, visit their website’s About page or check out this video.
