Connecting Round Rock: Moms Who Mean Business – LaFleur-Anders

Connecting Round Rock explores what makes Round Rock great!

As we continue to connect with the incredible people and organizations in our community, we’re eager to learn more about what makes Round Rock such a vibrant place. That’s why we’ve created the Connecting Round Rock series with a fresh twist.

Each theme, we’ll feature something or someone who contributes to making our community great—businesses, organizations, and people we think you would like to know!

Since it’s May, the Moms Who Mean Business series segment is a natural choice. Celebrating the strength and resilience of mothers. Join us and be inspired by the stories of these driven women who build, lead, activate, and support Round Rock (and beyond)!

Tell us about your family.
I have been married to my husband, TJ, for 20 years, and we have five amazing kids. Four sons and one daughter, and her daughter is the baby. We moved from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 18 years ago and have lived the majority of those 18 years in Round Rock. Until three years ago, we were involved in all things football and sports performance. Moving into the publishing and media space has been different for us as a family, but I’m blessed that we get to do it together.

What would be your ideal way to spend Mother’s Day?
A weekend in nature would be amazing. A cabin near water where I can enjoy peace and quiet is ideal.

Tell us about your business.
I publish printed, e-books, audiobooks, workbooks, and all other formats under Chestnut Publishing House. Although I am no longer publishing full-time, I still assist authors on a case-by-case basis.

Coffee Milk Media is where most of my energy goes. Corporations contract us to plan and execute large live events such as conferences. We also provide publishing services to those clients and some PR as well.

Outside of events, CMM also offers storytelling workshops, and we help businesses create a digital library for their clients or audience. In addition to providing a service, we also create documentaries and other digital forms of storytelling.

Under Reset with K., I facilitate wellness workshops, speak at events, and host wellness events, such as retreats for women founders and leaders. Whenever I can find the time, I will get back to creating a consistent newsletter and recording podcast episodes.

What’s your favorite part about your business?
My favorite part about my businesses is being able to create an experience. It is essential to me that every person leaves with something that has a profoundly positive impact. I choose beautiful spaces, I am intentional about the food, and every other detail, so people can have the best experience.

What is one challenge with your business?
The most recent challenge has been the economy. I’ve had to shift away from publishing books because publishing is not a necessity. I’ve especially had to shift away from who I was publishing books for, if that makes sense.

How does your business give back to the community?
In every way possible, I am trying to connect with community organizations to find out how we can help spread their message through storytelling. I have had the privilege of working with some nonprofit organizations that are doing amazing things in the Greater Austin area and will continue to do so. From establishing free little libraries to planning community events, community initiatives are at the heart of everything I do.

How can Round Rock (and the surrounding areas) support your business?
They can purchase a ticket to an event or contract us for their publishing and live event needs. If they need a speaker to inspire their team or audience, I’m their girl!
