Have you ever seen someone who looks like you or your child in a book? If not, this is a chance for your child to include themselves and share their story in a book on March 17, 2020 from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Preregistration is required. SOLD OUT
Shyno Chacko, of Represent Us All will be facilitating this session. Her organization is dedicated to increasing representation in children’s literature. During this spring break workshop at Round Rock Public Library, we will help your child write and illustrate their story. These stories will be turned into a book which will become part of the Round Rock Library Young Local Authors collection.
All registered children are required to attend all five days of the workshop. Classes will be held from 4 – 5 pm on Monday, March 16, 2020 – Friday, March 20, 2019 in the Round Rock Public Library Literacy Room on the second floor.
Workshop Schedule:
Monday, March 16, 2020; 4 – 5 pm: Story inspirations/Story outlines/Story maps
Tuesday, March 17, 2020; 4 – 5 pm: Character inspirations/ Character development
Wednesday, March 18, 2020; 4 – 5 pm: Illustrations/author bios & pics/dedications
Thursday, March 19, 2020; 4 – 5 pm: Peer reviews/story and illustration adjustments
Friday, March 20, 2020; 4 – 5 pm: Finalize stories and illustrations
Please Note:
All registered children are required to commit to the entire week program, Monday, March 16, 2020 – Friday, March 20, 2019. During registration, we will ask for the story idea and characters your child will be developing. This program is for children ages 8-12 only. Only attending participants must preregister. Online registration is required and starts Monday, March 2, 2020 at 9 am. If you cannot attend, please cancel your reservation via Eventbrite or call 512-218-3275.
