The Sam Bass Community Theatre presents “A Streetcar Named Desire” from September 8-30, 2017.
Sam Bass Theatre celebrates season of classics with one of the greatest and most beloved plays of all time, written by the face of American theatre Tennessee Williams. This renowned drama follows troubled former schoolteacher Blanche DuBois as she leaves small-town Mississippi and moves in with her sister, Stella Kowalski, and her husband, Stanley, in New Orleans. Blanche’s flirtatious Southern-belle presence causes problems for Stella and Stanley, who already have a volatile relationship, leading to even greater conflict in the Kowalski household. In this re-imagined interpretation aspects of mental health, sexual orientation, alcoholism, and rape culture are brought to the forefront with new technology and creative staging choices.
