9th Annual Dia De Los Muertos Event in Round Rock – 2022

Honoring our Past, Celebrating our Future

Local nonprofit Round Rock Ballet Folklorico, along with the City of Round Rock, Round Rock Library, Round Rock Parks & Recreation, and Univision Austin will host the 9th Annual Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Festival and Parade on November 5th at Centennial Plaza in Round Rock, Texas located at 301 W. Bagdad Ave. This annual festival brings thousands of visitors from the surrounding cities to partake in a cultural celebration honoring those who have passed with beautiful ofrendas (altars) created by their loved ones during this family-friendly event.

The entire festival runs from 12-8 pm and includes live music, performances, delicious food, arts and crafts, games and more! Attendees will enjoy live music by Compadre’s Mariachi, Quemazón, Nicole Reyes-Valdez and LA 45 Band. Dance performances will feature Round Rock Ballet Folklorico, Danza Azteca Guadalupana, and Ballet Folklorico South Texas College. The parade showcasing several dance and community groups will begin at 5 pm at Wells Fargo Bank, 505 Round Rock Ave, Round Rock, TX 78664, and end at Centennial Plaza. All are invited to sign up for the event contests. Create an altar dedicated to a loved one(s) that have passed decorated with photographs, candles, sugar skulls, flowers and more to participate in the Altar Contest. Set up starts at 8 am. First prize is a Kalahari Suite and tickets for 4, second prize is 4 waterpark tickets to Kalahari Resort and third prize is $50 in cash. Come dressed in your best Calaca, Catrina (an elegantly dressed skeleton), Selena or Frida costumes for a chance to win the costume contest.

This event is also in part funded by the City of Round Rock. Proceeds of the event will benefit Round Rock Ballet Folklorico to support their mission to provide accessible and affordable Ballet Folklorico dance classes and performances to the Round Rock community and surrounding areas.
