Heroes Against Hunger Holiday Extravaganza 2024: A Community Celebration with Heart
Today, December 8th, we find ourselves reflecting on the event that started our holidays. We wanted to share our experience and invite you to join us next year.
On November 8th, Round Rock kicked off the holiday season with a bang as over 1500 people came together for the annual Heroes Against Hunger Holiday Extravaganza. Held downtown at Round Rock’s Centennial Plaza, the evening was filled with holiday fun, entertainment, and giving—all to help Backpack Friends wipe out hunger in the community.
A Festive Evening for All
Families and friends gathered to enjoy a wide range of holiday-themed activities. There was something for everyone, from photos with Santa and seasonal crafts to live performances and vendors that brought holiday cheer. The atmosphere was joyful as local businesses, community groups, and volunteers worked together to create a magical experience for attendees.
Supporting a Vital Cause
The heart of the event was its mission: wiping out student hunger in our local communities. Backpack Friends works year-round, supporting students in Round Rock, Pflugerville, Austin, Georgetown, and Midway, with expansion areas in the works.
The collaborative spirit at the event showcased the Round Rock community’s commitment to helping those in need during the holiday season and, collectively, they raised over $8,000!
Highlights of the Night
- Interactive Activities: Kids enjoyed face painting, games, and holiday-themed crafts, while adults mingled at vendor booths, exploring unique holiday gifts.
- Entertainment: Local performers, choirs, and dance groups brought the stage to life, adding an extra sparkle to the event.
- Santa: Santa Claus made a grand appearance, delighting children and families eager to snap the perfect holiday photo.
- Photo Opps: Besides the photo with Santa, attendees had tons of opportunities to get some great pics, including Life-Sized Snow Globe fun!
