Georgetown Palace Theatre Receives $100,000 Gift from W.D. Kelley Foundation
Georgetown, Texas – On Sunday, Jan. 25, during the winter weather event, the historic Georgetown Palace Theatre suffered extensive damage to our theatre.
The restoration costs are more than $500,000 and are an unprecedented event for our theatre.
We are honored to announce that the W.D. Kelley Foundation has dedicated a $100,000 matching grant to support the rebuilding of the Palace Theatre. They will match donations up to $100,000 starting now.
“We appreciate the important work Georgetown Palace Theatre is doing in our community and are glad to support [their] efforts,” says Carl Illig, Executive Director at the Foundation.
This donation comes at a critical time as we have raised nearly $200,000 with the Save a Seat campaign, general dedicated donations, and ticket sales to our on-stage fundraisers. If we realize the match, it will put us at 80 percent of our goal.
We still need your support. Repairs are underway with 1836 Legacy Construction and we are on track to open the theatre for rentals at the end of April. We are also excited to open our first production on the Springer stage Friday, May 29 with rock-opera, Jesus Christ Superstar.
How can you help?
– Save A Seat Campaign – purchase a seat and receive an engraved plaque
– Make a Dedicated Donation – any denomination dedicated to repairs
– Buy a ticket to Encore – a benefit concert produced by Palace performers
– Buy a ticket to Jesus Christ Superstar or Every Brilliant Thing
– Register for summer camp
– Share our social media posts with friends and family
We are so thankful for this community and for all of your encouraging words of support. It is a testament to the spirit of Georgetown and Central Texas that we are not alone.
