Best of Round Rock Awards Program Signage Guidelines
If you are purchasing anything you intend to display on a window or on the exterior of your business space in the City of Round Rock, please familiarize yourself with the guidelines below. Round the Rock has negotiated specific terms for the Best of Round Rock signage.
If you are not in Round Rock, please defer to your local City signage ordinances.
- Best of Round Rock Awards Program Signage Guidelines
- A permit from the City is not required to display Best of Round Rock signage.
- The displayed signage placed on the exterior of the building and visible from the public right of way for the previous year’s recognition will be displayed throughout the current year. The objective of the timeframe is to ensure that only the most recent winners have their signs on display. This means if you have an sign from the previous year(s), you will need to remove it.
- Banners:
- One Best of Round Rock Awards banner may be displayed on a building in a location visible to the public right of way.
- Entire banner on the exterior of a building must be attached and parallel with a wall and cannot cover any part of a building’s windows or doors.
- Banner size cannot be greater than 32 sq ft (4’x8’) on the exterior of a building when visible from the public right-of-way.
- In cases where a single occupant business is located a minimum of 75 feet from the edge of the right-of-way, the banner could be installed freestanding. This shall not apply to single occupants in a multi-tenant center.
- Bandit Signs (includes Yard Signs):
- One Best of Round Rock Awards bandit sign is allowed.
- Bandit sign must be close to the entrance, next to the building; bandit signs cannot be located in the public right-of-way.
- Metal and Wood Wall Signs:
- One Best of Round Rock Metal and wood sign is allowed.
- Wall signs shall be mounted flush against a wall when on the exterior of a structure.
- Signs shall be considered incidental and shall not count towards building sign allowances if they are less than 4 square feet.
- Window Signs:
- Total sign display area of all window signs on any elevation of a building shall not cover more than 50 percent of the glazing on an elevation.
- A business owner may apply for a general purpose banner permit for an additional banner which could be displayed concurrently with a Best of Round Rock Award banner; banner standards in Section 8-77 of the Zoning and Development Code will apply.
- Definitions:
- Banner: A temporary, lightweight sign that contains a message which is attached or imprinted on a flexible surface and that is typically constructed of nondurable materials, including, but not limited to, cloth, and/or plastic.
- Bandit sign: A temporary sign, usually made of cardboard or foam board, mounted on an angle iron or a wooden stake.
- Window sign: Any items of information affixed in any manner to a window or exterior glass door such that is intended to be viewable from the exterior.
- Right-of-way: A strip of land acquired by reservation, dedication, prescription, or condemnation and intended to be occupied by a street, trail, water line, sanitary sewer, and/or other public utilities or facilities.

Magnet Disclaimer & Instructions
If using magnets on your vehicle, please double check to be sure your doors are not made of aluminum (non-magnetic) before ordering. Also, if you have a newer Dodge vehicle, it’s not recommended to use magnets on their metallic paint. It is recommended that you do not use them for prolonged periods of time and to be sure to clean the area of your vehicle before applying the magnets.
Vehicle Magnet Instruction Guide:
Follow the steps below to ensure your custom car magnet – and your vehicle – are ready to hit the road. This information will help prevent any debris on your vehicle from scratching the paint and damaging the surface. You’ll know your magnet is properly installed when it adheres to and is flat against the vehicle surface, without air bubbles.
Application
- Clean- Clean the vehicle surface and magnetic back with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
- Dry – Let both your vehicle surface and your car magnet air dry completely.
- Apply – Apply the magnet to a flat, metallic surface without bumps, curves or rust.
Care – These two steps will protect your vehicle surface from damage and debris.
- Clean the back of your car sign and vehicle surface weekly to protect it against debris build up
- Use a damp cloth and mild detergent to protect the vehicle surface
Follow these guidelines to extend the life of your magnet, prevent loss, and protect the surface to which it’s applied.
- Remove your magnet before any professional car washes or power washing
- Do not use your vehicle magnet in extreme weather conditions
Note: Applying any material to a painted surface without following these application, care, and usage instructions may result in damage to the surface.
