City to offer Christmas tree recycling, free seedlings
The City is hosting Christmas tree recycling events on Saturday, Dec. 31 and Saturday, Jan. 7 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Round Rock Brush Recycling Center located at 310 Deepwood Drive.
Small tree seedlings (100 per day/one per vehicle) will be distributed and volunteers will be available to help unload trees during these special events.
All decorations, nails, wires, ornaments, tree stands, lights, and tinsel must be removed before recycling.
Christmas lights can also be recycled through Jan. 31 at the Round Rock Recycling Center and several City facilities during normal business hours. Learn more
Local businesses can also participate in tree recycling events, and for a small fee of $15 per truckload, businesses that sell Christmas trees will be allowed to recycle their leftovers as well.
Those unable to attend one of the designated events can recycle trees during any regular operating day.
Trees will be shredded into mulch and made available free-of-charge to Round Rock residents. Mulch will be available for purchase by contractors and non-residents for $5 per cubic yard. Pickup can be made at the Round Rock Brush Recycling Center during regular business hours.
Questions should be directed to City of Round Rock Forestry Manager Ricci Strayhorn at (512) 218-5540.
