“Better is Peace” with the Round Rock Community Choir

Peace can come in many forms — peace in community, peace within, and peace in the circumstances of life. Come with us as we explore various forms of peace through song. You’ll enjoy favorites like “Seasons of Love” from Rent and Billy Joel’s “And So It Goes.” You will find new favorites in Kim Andre Arnesen’s “Flight Song” and the masterfully crafted “A Patch of Light” by Jacob Narverud. The program ends with the seven movement “For a Breath of Ecstasy” by Michael John Trotta. This emotional work for chorus, strings, and oboe features settings of the poetry of Sara Teasdale, and commemorates the centennial of her winning the Pulitzer Prize in poetry for “Love Songs.” This deeply personal collection of poems illustrates Teasdale’s search for peace in the midst of life’s struggles.
