National Pickleball Day Round Rock
Grab a paddle — Saturday, Aug. 8 is National Pickleball Day, and Round Rock has more than one way to celebrate the fastest-growing sport in the country. Whether you’ve never touched a paddle or you’re already dinking like a pro, here’s where to play for free this weekend.
The Picklr Round Rock — Free Tournament & Beginner Class
The Picklr Round Rock (3021 S I-35 Frontage Rd #240) is joining The Picklr’s nationwide celebration of pickleball’s 60th anniversary with two free events on Aug. 8.
- The Picklr Heritage Cup — a wood-paddle tournament open to all skill levels, free to play, no membership required. Retro ’60s attire encouraged as a nod to the sport’s Bainbridge Island roots.
- A free Pickleball 101 class for total beginners — no paddle or experience needed.

Austin Pickle Ranch — Free Clinics & Party
Want to make a day of it? Austin Pickle Ranch (11000 Middle Fiskville Rd, about 20 minutes from Round Rock) is hosting three free one-hour beginner clinics from 12–3 p.m., followed by an open-play party from 3–5 p.m. with a Newbie Court, music, snacks, and raffle prizes. Everything’s free, but sign-up is required.
