Pearson Ranch Middle School Attendance Public Forums
Round Rock ISD will be presenting its administrative recommendation at the September 15 regular Board of Trustees meeting and will be hosting two public forums on September 21 and 29 regarding the Pearson Ranch Middle School attendance area.
The hearings will be September 21 at Cedar Valley Middle School and September 29 at Walsh Middle School. Hearings will begin at 7:30 p.m. and take place in the Cafeteria.
The hearings will include a brief presentation and an opportunity for community feedback. The District will post the recommendations on its website on September 16 for the community to review and provide feedback electronically.
Pearson Ranch will be RRISD’s 11th middle school, located next to Elsa England Elementary School and its Transportation West Center on Pearson Ranch Road. The new school came from the 2014 Bond package approved by voters.
PRMS will open to relieve Cedar Valley and Walsh middle schools in August 2017. The District is searching for its first principal this fall.
The District will present the community’s feedback and possibly adjust its recommendation during the October 20 Board meeting. Trustees will vote on the recommendation at the November 17 meeting.

The proposed new attendance zones seem to change all, or nearly all, middle schools. This was presented as relieving two ms-Waldh and Cedar Valley, but in reality it is effecting more students from across the entire district. 12 elementaries will now will be split between two middle schools in their area. This does not support the district’s policy of vertical allignment, nor the policy of student safety of kids as even more kids will be traveling longer distances, crossing more major (dangerous) roads, and will be split from their support systems that have been created throughout elementary school.
I believe in the greatness of this district and that we can be a world class district with world class schools, but not with this proposal. As one trustee described it, “It’s a bowl of spaghetti.”
