Cap Metro Reduced Fare Card Enrollment | September 27, 2017
Are you a Senior Citizen? Are you on Medicare? If so, you qualify for the Reduced Fare ID (RFID) Card, offered by Capital Metro. RFID Card applicants typically must visit the Capital Metro Transit Store downtown to qualify for and renew an RFID Card. Now, thanks to a partnership with the City of Round Rock, Capital Metro is saving you a trip into Austin by hosting an off-site RFID enrollment event this September! Eligible applicants can apply at this event at the Transit Center at 300 West Bagdad in Round Rock on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 9:00 – 11:00 am.
WHAT IS THE REDUCED FARE ID (RFID) CARD?
The RFID Card allows eligible riders to receive a half-price fare on Capital Metro services. The following groups of riders must have the RFID Card in order to receive the reduced fare:
- Seniors 65 and over
- Medicare card holders
- Riders with disabilities (view the eligibility guidelines)
- Students 6-18 and military personnel not in uniform also qualify for reduced rates with a valid school or military ID. Students who do not have an ID issued by their school can apply for the RFID Card.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
Capital Metro staff will be on-site to collect the necessary information you need to enroll in the RFID program. To make sure you can enroll, please bring:
- Valid government-issued photo ID
- $3 cash or credit card (checks will NOT be accepted)
- Completed RFID Application for Seniors. LARGE PRINT
GETTING YOUR CARD
After the event, Capital Metro needs 3 days to process your application and will mail it to you. The RFID Card is good for two years and must be renewed to remain valid. It costs $3 to replace a lost, stolen or damaged card for the first two replacements. The third replacement costs $6.
