As we continue to connect with our community’s incredible people and organizations, we’re eager to learn more about what makes Round Rock such a vibrant place. That’s why we’re reviving our ‘5 Questions With…‘ series as segments with a fresh twist.
Each time, we’ll feature something or someone who contributes to making our community great—businesses, organizations, and people we think you would like to know!
Since we are kicking off in May, starting with the Moms Who Mean Business series segment is a natural choice. And what better way to start than on Mother’s Day, a day that celebrates the strength and resilience of mothers? Join us and be inspired by the stories of these driven women who build, lead, activate, and support Round Rock (and beyond)!
Meet Jen Henderson
Tell us about your family.
I have two amazing kids and an incredible husband. Faith is my daughter. She is 11 years old and the owner of Trailblazer LLC. She will babysit your cat when you are out of town. She is a leader and a girl who is clear about who she is and what she wants from life. She plays softball and travels all over the country to play ball. She is a force to be reckoned with on and off the field.
Jack is my son. He is 13 years old and one of the smartest, most technical kids I know. He plays baseball at a competitive (travel) level. He is an honors student and former kung fu student, and he is so smart with the books. He is athletic, fun-loving, and cool to be around.
Clint, my husband of 17 years. He is a project manager at Dell and a coach for our daughter. He is learning to play softball and is an amazing coach to her and her teammates. Clint is athletic and loves to be in the gym as much as possible.
What would be your ideal way to spend Mother’s Day?
I would LOVE to spend it with my mom and my kids. We will be in 3 different cities this year, and I wish it were different. I miss seeing my mom, as she lives far away from me. If I could spend the day with her, I would.
Tell us about your business
Henderson Professional Engineers was established in November 2020. We are a passion-based business with high performers. We provide construction plans for the areas outside of the building for new and redeveloped sites. We strive to bring a landowner’s vision to life through our plan sets before construction begins.
What’s your favorite part about your business?
I love driving around the city and seeing the visions that were once concepts on the ground. I love telling people about the sites I was able to be involved in. I enjoy being able to see and tell people about the challenges that we had with their projects.
What is one challenge with your business?
Hiring the right people at the right time. The industry is so busy in this area right now that it is hard to find the right talent. We are always looking and always hiring.
How does your business give back to the community?
I am on the board of the Brazos River Authority, incoming President of the Rotary Club of Round Rock, a member of the planning and zoning commission, and a member of the Chasco YMCA board. We give through time, talent, and treasure to all of those in different ways.
How can Round Rock (and the surrounding areas) support your business?
When you want to build something, let me help you. We work in annexation, zoning, planting, and site development. I want to help with all of those things, and if you are looking, I am happy to help.
