For more than 50 years, Camp Doublecreek has been creating Texas-sized memories for kids across the Greater Austin area, including many families in Round Rock. Their mission centers on providing a fun, outdoor, and unplugged environment where campers can stay active, build friendships, and grow in meaningful ways.
Each day is intentionally designed to give kids the chance to try new activities, challenge themselves, and experience success—whether they’re participating in sports, creative play, or outdoor adventures. With a team of supportive and caring staff, Camp Doublecreek focuses on encouraging, engaging, and inspiring campers while helping them develop confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging.
At the heart of their work is a simple but powerful goal: making sure every camper goes home knowing that someone believes in them.
What is your favorite part of the work your organization does?
One of the most rewarding parts of Camp Doublecreek is creating a safe, fun environment where kids feel comfortable stepping outside their comfort zones.
Watching campers try something new, build confidence, and develop teamwork skills—often in just a few days—is what makes the experience so meaningful for both staff and families.
What is one challenge your organization faces?
Like many long-standing camps, Camp Doublecreek continues to evolve to meet the changing interests of today’s campers. As activities and expectations shift over time, their team works to thoughtfully adapt programming while staying true to the core experience families have loved for generations.
How is your organization preparing to kick off the summer season?
Camp Doublecreek is gearing up for an exciting start to summer with Opening Week, which brings together its classic camp experience and its popular DC Riding Camp. This combination offers campers a unique opportunity to enjoy traditional camp fun while also exploring horseback riding in a supportive, engaging setting.
How can Round Rock (and the surrounding areas) support your organization?
As a camp that has grown through generations of families, word of mouth continues to be the most meaningful way the community supports Camp Doublecreek. Sharing experiences, inviting friends, and encouraging others to join help keep this long-standing tradition strong. Families are encouraged to grab a friend and sign up to experience camp together.
For generations, Camp Doublecreek has created a place where kids can unplug, try new things, and build confidence in a supportive environment. With a blend of outdoor adventure, structured activities, and meaningful connections, campers leave not only with great memories but with a stronger sense of self. It’s a tradition that continues to grow with each new group of campers—and one that families return to year after year.
