Latinitas and IBM present: Programming Robots using the Lego Mindstorms Robolab Kit at the Round Rock Public Library on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 12:00 pm – 2:30 pm.  This program is for tweens and pre-registration recommended to guarantee your spot.

In this workshop, attendees will build and program robots using the Lego Mindstorm kit. At the end of the workshop, their robots will participate in a challenge against the robots programmed by the other students. The LegoMindstorms programming software has a simple visual drag-drop interface that can be easily used by kids. No previous programming experience is required.

The learning objective is to get the kids some experience in building and programming robots as a introduction to Engineering. The workshop activity helps demonstrate the Design, Build, Test principles behind any engineering activity.

This free activity is best enjoyed by upper elementary and middle school students; the 25 available spaces to work are reserved for students in grades 3-8. Family members are welcome to attend and enjoy the event, which will include testing the robots and letting the robots compete against each other.
