Round Rock Area Cancellations Amid Coronavirus Prevention
With Texas universities & schools extending Spring Break and moving to online learning, it was only a matter of time that area events would begin announcing postponing or cancellations. We will be monitoring the announcements and continue to post them here.
ROUND ROCK
Round Rock ISD
As of Monday, March 16 at 11AM, all Round Rock ISD schools are closed March 20-April 3, 2020 with school resuming on Monday, April 6.

Mighty Thomas Carnival
Updated March 15 at 11:00 am – The Mighty Thomas Carnival has made the decision to suspend their carnival until further notice.
Music on Main Spring Break Bash
Updated March 14 at 7:38 am – The City of Round Rock announced it will cancel the planned Music on Main Spring Break series from March 16-20, 2020.
Music on Main Spring Concert Series
Updated March 16 at 3:29 pm – The City of Round Rock announced it will cancel the planned Music on Main Spring Concert Series series that was planned for each Wednesday in April & May.
Sculptfest
Updated March 16 at 3:29 pm – The City of Round Rock announced it will cancel the planned Sculptfest art show.
Parks & Recreation Events
Updated March 14 at 7:38 AM – As of March 13, the Parks and Recreation Department will be operating under the following modifications until further notice:
- Allen R. Baca Center will remain open. Programs, activities and trips are suspended. Weight room, library, billiards and lobby are open for use. Congregate meal services will continue with potential modifications.
- Clay Madsen Recreation Center will remain open. Patrons are asked to follow established procedures for changes in group exercise classes.
- All youth athletic league (volleyball and soccer) practices and games are suspended
- The Youth Fishing Derby scheduled for March 21 has been canceled
- Youth instructional programs, Spring Break camps and lifeguard trainings are still being offered
- Adult programs and leagues are still being offered

March 12- Round Rock Express announced that Minor League Baseball will be delaying their season.
Round Rock Express Fan Fest
The kickoff for the season, the Round Rock Express Fan Fest, scheduled for March 28, will be delayed this year. More info to come.
Penfold Theatre’s “Vincent” Production
Penfold Theatre has decided to postpone their production of “Vincent” until July.

The Thinkery
Updated March 13 at 6:00 PM – The Thinkery, Austin’s Children’s Museum, has made the decision to close until Sunday, March 22.
Frank Erwin Center

In further response to the growing concerns over COVID-19 (coronavirus), The University of Texas is postponing all events at the Frank Erwin Center for the immediate future, UT Vice President and Athletics Director Chris Del Conte announced on Thursday. No decision has been made at this point on when events will resume, but an announcement will be made once that is determined. Ticket holders will be contacted directly about any postponed events.

“For the health, safety and well-being of all of its patrons, performers and staff, we have decided to postpone upcoming events at the Erwin Center for the near future,” Del Conte said. “After discussion with University officials and leadership at the Erwin Center we believe it’s in the best interest of everyone involved to proceed with an abundance of caution with events at that facility.”
UT announced on Wednesday that all on-campus athletics competitions would be played without spectators in the stands until March 22. Any further decisions will be announced if other events are impacted.
This includes the following that are postponed or cancelled:

Austin Rodeo announced Thursday evening it’s plans to cancel the 2020 Austin Rodeo.
