Round Rock Explorer Guide
Looking for a unique activity to do with your family this Spring? Check out the Round Rock Explorer Guide!
How much do you really know about the history of Round Rock? Like more than just watching the Sam Bass Shootout at the Frontier Days every 4th of July?
Local teenager, Abby Robison, created a fun way for your whole family to learn the history of our great city AND do some fun activities while doing it!
I’ll let her tell you her story:
My name is Abby Robison, I am a freshman at Meridian World IB School and a girl scout. For my Silver Award, I created a Round Rock Explorer Guide and I wanted to share this project.
Ever since I was a little kid, we would do the National Park Junior Ranger Guides, I have about 80 now. I absolutely love doing these guides because they have taught me so much about history, the environment, etc. This really made me curious about my own hometown of Round Rock, so I researched and found that we have a lot of interesting history. When I was thinking about what to do for my Girl Scout Silver award I decided it would be awesome to make a guide for Round Rock and bring attention to some of our historic sites. I named it Round Rock Explorers, I had such a fun time making this and am very proud of the outcome. Due to the pandemic, I had to change some things to make it covid friendly so it is now all outside locations. You can currently find it in the Round Rock Visitor Center or download a pdf copy and print it yourself.
We love to highlight local citizens who do something fun for the community and especially love to highlight them when they are teenagers!! There is a lot of great Round Rock history in the guide, specifically on Chisholm Trail, which is accessible and fun to explore.

We started in 2013 to be a helpful resource to find things to do in the Round Rock area, but we quickly grew to become the resource for activities and events for North Austin.
We also like to feature small businesses and restaurants in Round Rock, making sure everyone understands the importance of spending dollars locally. Not only does it support local businesses and their families and employees, but it puts money back into the community, helping fund infrastructure improvements, the library and the Police Department.
