RRISD Future Readiness Parent Seminar: More Than Sad – A look at teen depression | December 5, 2018
Round Rock ISD is hosting a Future Readiness Parent Seminar entitled “More Than Sad – A look at teen depression” for parents with their 8th – 12th graders on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the RRISD Tool Box at Round Rock High School at 700 N. Lake Creek Drive.
Pre-registration is required. Seminar fee: $10.00 per family, per seminar. Fees collected are donated to student scholarships.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s presentation More Than Sad, was designed to offer parents a look into teen depression. The story of four teens will be shared and how each of them experienced depression. Participants will gain a better understanding of depression and what resources are available. REGISTER

Audience: Due to the sensitive nature of this information, parents/guardians should use their discretion as to bringing their student (8th grade and above only) to this seminar.
Presenter(s): Amy Grosso, coordinator, Future Readiness at Round Rock ISD
Dr. Amy Grosso’s holds an MSEd in Educational Psychology from Baylor University and a Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Before her work in education, she spent several years as a mental health counselor. Dr. Grosso serves as board chair for the Central Texas chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention; and leads professional development on mental health topics, assists with AVID, and oversees grants for the District.
