Round Rock Parks and Recreations Qualifies Two Lifeguard Teams for State Competition
ROUND ROCK, TEXAS – Round Rock Parks and Recreation announces that two of its lifeguard teams have qualified to compete at the state level following their performance at the Central Texas Aquatics Association Regional Competition. This event was held on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Typhoon Texas in Pflugerville, where the teams demonstrated their knowledge in recognition, response, skill performance, teamwork, communication, and the ability to perform under pressure during mock rescues and skill scenarios.
Out of 15 teams from Central Texas that competed, four teams advanced to the state competition, and Round Rock Parks and Recreation earned two of those spots. The state competition is scheduled to take place at Rock’N River Water Park on Wednesday, July 31st, 2024.
The regional competition tested teams on various aspects of lifeguarding, including their ability to recognize and respond to emergencies, perform lifesaving skills, work effectively as a team, and communicate efficiently. Round Rock’s teams excelled in these areas, earning their place in the top tier of the region and securing their advancement to the next level of competition.
This achievement reflects the rigorous training and preparation undertaken by Round Rock Parks and Recreation lifeguards. The department emphasizes skill development in performing water rescues and water safety protocols, which are critical in real-life rescue situations.
The upcoming state competition will provide a platform for the teams to showcase their capabilities and compete against the best lifeguard teams from across Texas. It will be held at Rock’N River Water Park in Round Rock, offering a challenging and exciting environment for all participants.
