Connecting Round Rock: Moms Who Mean Business – Stone

Connecting Round Rock explores what makes Round Rock great!

As we continue to connect with our community’s incredible people and organizations, we’re eager to learn more about what makes Round Rock such a vibrant place. That’s why we’re reviving our ‘5 Questions With…‘ series as segments with a fresh twist.

Each time, we’ll feature something or someone who contributes to making our community great—businesses, organizations, and people we think you would like to know!

Since we are kicking off in May, starting with the Moms Who Mean Business series segment is a natural choice. And what better way to start than on Mother’s Day, a day that celebrates the strength and resilience of mothers? Join us and be inspired by the stories of these driven women who build, lead, activate, and support Round Rock (and beyond)!

Moms Who Mean Business - Stone

Meet Mary Stone

Tell us about your family.
My husband, Andy, and I have been married for 16 years and own Stone Stash Coffee. We have a 12-year-old boy, Keenan, a 10-year-old girl, Kaylie, and a sweet doggy, Lucky (whom we named one of our coffee roasts after). We are a big sports family. You can find us on a soccer field, football field, track, basketball court, or pickleball court (if we are on vacation!) In our free time, we love to watch movies, take family bike rides to downtown Round Rock, and swim.

What would be your ideal way to spend Mother’s Day?
Sleep in, have a steaming cup of Stone Stash coffee, and a hot breakfast waiting for me. Read, bike ride with the family and dinner out!

Tell us about your business.
Stone Stash Coffee is a small-batch coffee roaster based out of Round Rock. We pride ourselves on selecting raw, green beans that are ethically sourced and of the highest quality. We air-roast our beans to produce a smoother, less bitter coffee taste than traditional drum-roasted coffee. Our freshly roasted beans are delivered straight to your door! The mission of Stone Stash Coffee is to roast sustainably sourced coffee to perfection while reducing our environmental impact and building a community of coffee lovers who share our passion for sustainability and great coffee. We are 2 years old!

What’s your favorite part about your business?
I love knowing that I’m producing a product that people think about as soon as they wake up (or sometimes dream about while they are sleeping!)

What is one challenge with your business?
The biggest challenge is wearing all of the hats. We currently run and manage all of the operations with no employees.

How does your business give back to the community?
We are a sponsor of Blackland Prairie Elementary, the Round Rock Chamber events, and the Hutto City Power Breakfasts. We also donate coffee baskets to 10 – 12 nonprofit organizations every year.

How can Round Rock (and the surrounding areas) support your business?
Our biggest request is that you try us out and see the difference for yourself. Since our coffee is air-roasted, it produces a smoother, less bitter cup of coffee!
