Round Rock Symphony and Anton Nel present Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto | May 6, 2018

Round Rock Symphony and Anton Nel will present Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto on May 6, 2018 from 4:00 – 6:30 pm at the Klett Center for Performing ArtsThis is a follow-up performance to their February 2015 presentation of Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto. With enthusiasm, Stefan Sanders, musical director and conductor of Round Rock Symphony conveys, “We are very honored to call Anton our friend. His artistry and generosity are incredibly meaningful to us and each opportunity to make music with him is a special gift to the orchestra and audience.” This performance is co-produced with Georgetown Symphony Society.

PROGRAM DETAILS
The Fifth Piano Concerto of Beethoven, known as the Emperor Concerto because of its large scope and larger than average length, has become one of the most celebrated concertos in the repertoire. Lasting nearly 40 minutes, Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto provides the orchestra and soloist with a treasure trove of musical material; expressing gorgeous heroic melodies in the first movement and prolonged beauty and jovial fun in the second and third movements respectively. Anton Nel is a renowned Beethoven interpreter, having received great acclaim for his performances the world over. “We are thrilled to feature him on this monumental piece of Beethoven’s music,” related Stefan Sanders.

Beethoven – Symphony No. 4, B-flat major. op. 60

Beethoven – Piano Concerto No. 5, E-flat major, op. 73

ANTON NEL PLAYS BEETHOVEN’S EMPEROR CONCERTO will take place on May 6th from 4:00-6:30pm .Tickets for this performance are available online through Georgetown Symphony Society’s website (http://gsstx.org/ind_tickets506.htm), and a limited supply of tickets can be purchased day of the event at the Klett Center for Performing Arts (2211 N Austin Ave, Georgetown, TX 78626). As part of its educational mission, Round Rock Symphony will perform a special day of concerts for 4th graders of Round Rock ISD (multiple campuses will be in attendance) at the McNeil Performing Arts Center (5800 McNeil Dr, Austin, TX 78729) Although this performance is not open to the public, however, we will direct interested media outlets to our RRISD liaison for media inquiries.

Sunday, May 20th,Georgetown Festival of the Arts

Round Rock Symphony will perform during the Georgetown Festival of the Arts at Alma Thomas Theater on the campus of Sarofim School of Music at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX. The performance, featuring violinist Fabián Lopez, will take place Sunday, May 20, 2018, from 4:00-6:30pm. Program to include: Revueltas – Sensamaya | Piazzolla – The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires | Ginastera – Estancia: Four Dances | Marquez – Danzon No. 2. Saturday, June 9, Texas State International Piano Festival and Competition

For the second year in a row, Round Rock Symphony will perform a public performance during this annual competition at Texas State University. This performance will take place June 9, from 7pm-9:30pm at Performing Arts Center, Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. Info: http://tsipf.com.
