Thankful to Live in Round Rock ~ Day 3: Play for All Abilities Park
We are so very blessed to live in such a great city – Round Rock is unique in that it’s big enough to have everything that we need, but still has that small town feel. Many of you know, I started Round the Rock because I wanted everyone to know and take advantage of all the fun things there are to do here in the Rock. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I thought it would be fun to reflect on 30 things that make me Thankful to live in Round Rock.
30 Reasons why I’m Thankful to live in Round Rock
Day #3: Play for All Abilities Park
Round Rock has in my opinion, one of the best parks in all of Central Texas. Over off of A.W. Grimes sits the Play for All Abilities Park – developed for children of every ability. This park has some of the most fun playscapes, sand pits, and toys to play on.
If you have children and haven’t been yet (were you living under a rock?) you must go there tomorrow and experience this gem.
The mission of the park is to provide a safe, fun place to play and develop new skills for children of all abilities. The 51,000 square feet park is intended for play as well as for therapy and learning.
The Play for All Abilities Park has an amazing history, taking a community-wide effort to allow it to come to fruition in a little over 5 years. What impressed me the most is the 30+ member Design Task Force included parents & professionals familiar with working with children of special needs. It was their input that brought this amazing place together.
The park features unique swings, sensory walls, tunnels, a swaying boat, a make-your-own-music station, and a miniature Round Rock! You can bring your own riding toys and drive the streets:
This park is for every child….no matter what their abilities are, everyone can play here. There is something for everyone. Ramps, low to the ground play-scapes, and swings to accommodate wheel-chairs enable a fun, safe environment for all abilities to enjoy.
The City of Round Rock and their various, local business partners have hit a home run with this one. I am thrilled with this amazing park and for this reason, I am thankful for the Play for All Abilities Park.
The Play for All Abilities Park is located at 151 A.W. Grimes Blvd., just southeast of Hwy. 79.
Just a small disclosure here – I am not receiving any financial compensation to tell you what I am thankful for in Round Rock. I am simply telling you about places, objects, & opportunities that have blessed me & my family.
