Round-Rock-Tree-Save-The-Date-1

Atmos Energy Corporation, Texas 811, and The Texas Trees Foundation join together to fuel greener and cleaner communities. Round Rock, Texas will be one of the first recipients of 811 trees across Texas with 47 trees to be planted at Bowman Park in Round Rock on February 5, 2016 at 10:30am. Media The entire community is invited to attend the opening ceremony. Bowman Park is located at 950 East Bowman Road. Atmos Energy is excited to team with the City of Round Rock to help accomplish this undertaking.

August 11th is also known as 811 Day. Atmos Energy encourages customers to call 811 before they dig. By calling 811 in advance, property owners and contractors are connected to their state’s one-call center, which notifies all appropriate utilities about the excavation. Professional locators mark all underground utility lines at the digging site with flags or spray paint.

“We are thrilled to partner with Texas 811 and the Texas Trees Foundation to create a long lasting positive impact across the communities we serve, John Paris, president of Mid-Tex division, Atmos Energy said. “Natural gas is a clean and efficient fuel source and planting trees ensures a cleaner and greener Texas.”

“We estimate over 5,000 individuals will directly benefit from this partnership,” Matt Grubisich with Texas Trees Foundation said. “This is a great way to show Texas the importance of calling 811 before digging while providing trees for our communities.”

The Fueling Greener and Cleaner Community’s effort will plant the trees across Texas starting in August and finishes up in April 2016, which is National Safe Digging Month. Please visit the Texas Trees Foundation’s Tree Tracker to follow our progress.
