About the Exhibit

  • Antarctica is a “bucket list” travel destination. Over the 2018-2019 Christmas break, local photographer Henry Huey traveled there with his family aboard the National Geographic Orion. They crossed the Drake Passage between South America and Antarctica (experiencing 24-foot waves on the way back), shared trails with penguins, watched humpback whales and orcas at sea level from a Zodiac inflatable boat, and celebrated New Year’s Day hiking on the sea ice. He brought back hundreds of photos of the remarkable birds, animals, and scenery, and will share some of his favorites in the Round Rock Public Library gallery in April 2019.
