31st Citizen’s Police Academy Opening Ceremony | September 8, 2015

Join us as we welcome our 31st Citizen’s Police Academy class. A 10-week course that gives participants a behind the scenes look at what officers do every day. Every Tuesday night from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., citizens will meet officers from every division, like Animal Control, K9, Training and Recruiting, Dispatch, SWAT, Hostage Negotiations, Crime Scene, Evidence, Patrol functions, School Resource Program, Criminal Investigations and more. This hands on course allows participants a chance to drive a police car in an obstacle course, and go to our range and shoot firearms. Riding out with patrol officers is an option as well.

Our Community Affairs Officer Joseph Claypool will once again put on the Academy. We conclude the class with a graduation and dinner. Class size is limited to 25 students.

The requirements to attend the class are:

-Someone who fits within the parameters of the goals, values, and mission of the Round Rock Police Department
-Clear driver’s license
-Completion of background check for involvement with the police
