Round Rock ISD Announces Class of 2021 Commencement Walks
It was announced today that the Round Rock ISD Class of 2021 will celebrate their graduation with Senior Commencement Walks at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex (KRAC) this May.
In an email to parents today:
The decision to host Senior Commencement Walks for the Class of 2021 comes after discussions with the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park and learning their current restrictions would limit students to no more than four guests and would not allow for live music and a procession to take place. Given the current restrictions of the facility, in addition to the continued uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic and health and safety concerns, the decision was made to host Senior Commencement Walks at the KRAC.
Senior Commencement Walks will take place from Monday, May 24 to Saturday, May 29 during 8 – 10 a.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Much like last year, campuses will have designated days for graduates to participate.
The Class of 2021 Commencent Walk Schedule is:
- May 24: Early College High School (8 – 10 a.m.)
- May 24: Success High School (6 – 8 p.m.)
- May 25: Round Rock High School
- May 26: Stony Point High School
- May 27: McNeil High School
- May 28: Cedar Ridge High School
- May 29: Westwood High School
Campuses are currently working on plans to create special and memorable experiences for their graduates and will share more information on what families can expect to see once solidified.
More details on Commencent Walks, including information regarding the exact number of guests allowed per graduate will also be shared once available. At this time, that number is expected to be more than the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park could accommodate.
Last year was the first year Round Rock ISD hosted a commencement walk. Due to the pandemic, commencement ceremonies at the Cedar Park Center were canceled, so RRISD staff pulled together commencement walks at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex.
