8th Annual Round Rock ISD Empty Bowls | April 13, 2019
On Saturday, April 13, 2019 the community comes together at Cedar Ridge High School from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm for the annual Round Rock ISD Empty Bowls Festival. “Empty Bowls” is an international effort to help end hunger through art, action, and awareness.
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger and was created by The Imagine Render Group. The basic premise is simple: Potters and other craftspeople, educators and others work with the community to create handcrafted bowls.
The Empty Bowls model involves artists creating and donating ceramic bowls, then serving a meal at a community event. The festival features a meal of soup, bread and a drink served in a handmade bowl created by local artists and Round Rock Independent School District students and staff. Guests choose their bowl to take as reminder of all the empty bowls in the world and contribute a suggested minimum donation. All proceeds benefit the Round Rock Area Serving Center.
