Connecting Round Rock: Champions for Seniors -Hearthstone Nursing and Rehabilitation
Describe your mission and the work focused on seniors and their caregivers.
Hearthstone Nursing and Rehabilitation specializes in caring for high-acuity short-term patients and providing compassionate long-term care. Patients who have recently been hospitalized, received hip or knee replacement surgeries, or have a chronic illness will find an ideal community with comprehensive care and support services delivered by professional caregivers and therapy teams. We’ll get you back to your normal or new routine. Hearthstone also includes a Memory Care unit that focuses on the individual. The Memory Care unit creates an environment that fosters independence and restores the self-esteem and dignity its residents have earned throughout their lives.
What is your favorite part about the work your organization does?
The team here at Hearthstone finds pride and joy in seeing our residents flourish in this new yet familiar environment. Each day, we’re excited to see the strength our short-term residents have built with the Therapy department and the healing they have found with the Nursing team. Our long-term residents make connections and foster relationships they’ve established through engaging in activities and hobbies they’ve always had.
What is one challenge your organization faces?
One main challenge we face is the misperception of Nursing facilities. Too often, people think of nursing facilities as where people can live out their last few months or years of life. This could not be further from the truth! Many people come to Hearthstone for just a short time to receive therapy and return home. Others may reside here long-term but have access to daily entertainment, activities, social interactions, and friendships they wouldn’t otherwise be exposed to. We are very proud of our teams’ quality of care and the culture we’ve built here at Hearthstone.
How is your organization preparing for Fall/Winter?
Fall and Winter are cheerful times of year for the folks at Hearthstone Nursing and Rehabilitation. We have a Halloween Bash in October, a Pumpkin Patch Festival and Thanksgiving Dinner in November, and a Christmas Party and Parade in December. We will also host a Food Drive to give back to our community via the Round Rock Area Serving Center.
How can Round Rock (and the surrounding areas) support your organization?
We love Round Rock and its surrounding areas and want you all to know we’re here and happy to help!
Feel free to contact us directly at (512) 388-7494 with any questions. You’re also invited to stop by for a tour of our facility. Hearthstone is in the same parking lot as St. David’s Round Rock!
