Round Rock Public Library Summer Reading Challenge
The library’s annual Summer Reading Challenge is open to all ages and reading levels. Kids log their reading time through ReadSquared and earn points toward prizes. The program runs June through July — check the library’s calendar at roundrocktexas.gov for exact dates, events, and kickoff details.
The Yogurt Experience Summer Reading Challenge
A sweet local reward! Read 10 books (preschool through 12th grade), download the reading log, and bring your completed log into The Yogurt Experience to earn a free FroYo. Check their website for the current deadline.
H-E-Buddy Summer Reading Club
The HEB reading club is free for Texas kids ages 3–12. Read 10 books over the summer, log them on the reading log (with an adult’s initials next to each title — at least one book must be from HEB’s Read 3 selection), then mail in the completed form by September 30, 2026. Your child will receive an H-E-B plush toy in the mail. Download the log and get full details at heb.com.
National retailers offer great rewards, too.
Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program
Kids in grades 1–6 can earn a free book just for reading this summer. Read 8 books, record your favorites in the Summer Reading Journal (available in-store or as a download), then bring the completed journal to any Barnes & Noble store between July 1 and August 31 to pick a free book from the approved list. Bonus: Bring your journal in after every two books to collect an exclusive sticker and post a recommendation in the store.
Half Price Books Summer Reading Camp
HPB’s Summer Reading Camp is back for 2026. Register at hpb.com/summer, and you’ll get access to reading lists, activities, and coloring sheets all summer long. Kids can also stop by any Half Price Books location to pick up a reading log and earn $5 Bookworm Bucks in June and July just for reading.
And yes — Pizza Hut’s beloved BOOK IT! program is back.
Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Summer of Stories
The beloved BOOK IT! program is back — and this summer it’s called Summer of Stories. Pre-K through 6th grade kids can earn a free single-topping Personal Pan Pizza each month (June, July, and August) by meeting their reading goals. Parents set the goals in the free BOOK IT! app, track progress, and redeem rewards right from their phone at participating Pizza Hut locations. Up to 5 certificates per family per month.
Scholastic Home Base Summer Reading
Not a rewards program, but a great resource. Scholastic’s website (scholastic.com/kids) is packed with book recommendations for PreK–6th grade. A good starting point if your kid isn’t sure what to read next this summer.
