Thankful to Live in Round Rock ~ Day 26: Downtown Round Rock
We are so very blessed to live in such a great city – Round Rock is unique in that it’s big enough to have everything that we need, but still has that small town feel. Many of you know, I started Round the Rock because I wanted everyone to know and take advantage of all the fun things there are to do here in the Rock. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I thought it would be fun to reflect on 30 things that make me Thankful to live in Round Rock.
30 Reasons why I’m Thankful to live in Round Rock
Day #26: Downtown Round Rock
The past 2 years has seen a revitalized downtown Round Rock. New businesses and restaurants have opened up, giving us even more reason to head downtown.
Beyond the fun events that the City of Round Rock puts on at the Prete Main Street Plaza and the monthly Round Rock Market Days, the downtown are of Round Rock has some great restaurants & shops to visit. One of my favorites, Star Co. Coffee, is the perfect place to meet for a business meeting or just for a cup of coffee with a friend. They have free wifi, so I often escape to their back room to get work done (it beats looking at my office wall all day!). They also have pastries and sandwiches for lunch. Or you can escape right next door to Curly’s Carolina Texas BBQ which just recently opened for lunch Thursdays-Sundays.
Krave Wine Bar & Bistro is another wonderful place to have dinner or drinks with friends. I love the atmosphere of Krave and they have a really goood menu. Last year, I was blessed to have my girlfriends take me there for my birthday where we shared a few Krave boards and bottles of wine – YUM!
For the beer lovers, The Brass Tap opened up this year. This place is beautiful inside – the woodwork is really nice and they have a big back patio. They offer a ton – I mean a TON – of choices of beer and even have a fun “club” to get you to try all the different ones they offer. Ironically, we took a big group here for my husband’s birthday.
You can grab a fantastic burger at Junior’s Icehouse, some gumbo at Louisiana Longhorn Cafe, or get dressed up fancy for a date night at Main Street Grille.
And there’s not just food downtown – there are a few hair salons, some cute gift shops, the Round Rock Public Library, the Palm House Museum, and more. If you wanted to learn about the historic buildings that make up Downtown Round Rock, you can download a walking tour here.
I love our little Downtown – I love the events the city plans that bring the community together – like the upcoming Christmas Family Night. I love having places that are close to home to go out and have a good time – once again, you don’t have to drive all the way down to Austin! Another wonderful reason I am Thankful to Live in Round Rock!
Just a small disclosure here – I am not receiving any financial compensation to tell you what I am thankful for in Round Rock. I am simply telling you about places, objects, & opportunities that have blessed me & my family.
