5 Questions with Mays Street Boutique’s Ashley Deli
In an effort to get to know more about the people who make Round Rock such a great place to live, I am resurrecting a series I did years ago called “5 Questions With….” As I did in the past, I will be asking a few questions of interesting people of Round Rock – people who work hard behind the scenes, people who strive to make our city great, people who make fun events & places possible in our city, and just cool folks you need to know.
But I wanted to take it a step further and reach out to as many businesses owners in Round Rock as I can. I want to catch up with them to learn how their business is doing under these conditions. And see if & how we can help keep them in businesses. I think you will be happy to hear some of the unique ways that businesses have adapted to the changes or are making plans to offer new products and services once they do open.
Our small town is the home of a few very special boutiques that we love to support. One that has been around for many years and has given back to the community in many different ways is Mays Street Boutique.
Mays Street Boutique was opened by Sandy Deli, but recently, her daughter-in-law, Ashley Deli, took over ownership – as in months ago. And then this happened. Imagine all the excitement and enthusiasm you have for a new project, only to have to put it all on hold and close your doors to customers coming into the shop. Let’s hear from Ashley:
What is Mays Street Boutique?
At Mays Street Boutique we strive to be your one stop shop. We have a wide selection of products for everyone in your life…friends, babies, men, mommas, daughters, coworkers we have it all. We carry a variety products by Mudpie, Kendra Scott, Yeti, Gorjana, Consuela, Jon Hart, Circle E as well as clothes for men and women.
What is the status of your business now?
We are closed to the public for shopping however we have launched our website www.maysstreet.com. We offer free shipping on orders $50 or more as well as curbside pick up Monday-Friday from 10am – 1pm.
What do you miss most about your business?
I miss our customers and my team! I miss hugging people as they come in!
What are the plans for the future for Mays Street Boutique?
One positive that has come from COVID-19, is that it forced us to launch our website sooner than we had originally planned. We had to give our customers a way to have access to products that they love. We continue to add new products as we are still receiving new shipments daily.
What has been a few of your favorite “at-home” activities during this time?
We are soaking up all the family time. My husband travels a lot for work and both of my girls have busy schedules. We are loving our family dinners and slower paced life.
Bonus – what’s the first thing you will do once the Stay-at-Home mandate is lifted?
Go out to dinner at a restaurant! Cooking three meals a day is exhausting! 😂
