5 Questions with Renzi’s Tutoring & Guitar’s CJ & Tammy Renzi
In an effort to get to know more about the people who make Round Rock such a great place to live, I am resurrecting a series I did years ago called “5 Questions With….” As I did in the past, I will be asking a few questions of interesting people of Round Rock – people who work hard behind the scenes, people who strive to make our city great, people who make fun events & places possible in our city, and just cool folks you need to know.
But I wanted to take it a step further and reach out to as many businesses owners in Round Rock as I can. I want to catch up with them to learn how their business is doing under these conditions. And see if & how we can help keep them in businesses. I think you will be happy to hear some of the unique ways that businesses have adapted to the changes or are making plans to offer new products and services once they do open.
All after school activities & sports came to a standstill with the Stay-at-Home orders in April. So how are the businesses that help enrich our kids doing? We caught up with CJ & Tammy Renzi, who own Renzi Tutoring & Guitar to see how they are doing.
What is Renzi Tutoring & Guitar?
In February of 2019, Renzi Tutoring and Guitar opened our doors to the families of Round Rock. We might be what is considered a tiny business as it is just Tammy and CJ teaching out of the little green building not far from the actual round rock. Although our business is new to Round Rock, we are both Texas-certified teachers with master’s degrees and over 20 years of teaching experience each. Tammy teaches reading, writing, and math for students in kindergarten through 5th grade while CJ teaches all styles of guitar to students of all ages.
What is the status of your business now?
After spring break, we moved all our lessons online via Zoom and Skype..
What do you miss most about your business?
We are very fortunate in that we get to see our students’ smiling faces every week, yet we do miss greeting our students in our waiting room, having them sit next to us to learn, and having in-person conversations with their parents.
What are the plans for the future for Renzi Tutoring & Guitar?
We look forward to opening our doors once we are permitted, but in the meantime we will continue making beautiful music, reading and writing together, and discovering the fun in math.
What has been a few of your favorite “at-home” activities during this time?
For anyone who knows us, this will come as no surprise. We love to take long walks and have made several more squirrel friends. This may have something to do with the peanuts we both keep in our pockets.
Bonus – what’s the first thing you will do once the Stay-at-Home mandate is lifted?
We’ll reassure our squirrels that we’re not abandoning them, and then we’re just not sure. Maybe we’ll head out for some food since we’ve really been practicing our eating skills!
